B'way Update: Reeves, Driver; Cast for MACNEAL; Etc.

Where's Godot, Dude?
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves will
reunite for the Beckett play.
Keanu Keeves and Alex Winter, co-stars of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and its two sequels, will reunite for a Broadway revival of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, to be directed by Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard) in the fall of 2025. This will be Reeves' Broadway debut. Winter appeared as a child actor in 1970s revivals of The King and I and Peter Pan. 

“It is a real honor to be collaborating with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett’s sublime masterpiece—one of the greatest plays of all time," says Lloyd in a statement. 

“We’re incredibly excited to be on stage together and work with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays," add Reeves and Winter.

Godot premiered in Paris in 1953 and on Broadway in 1956. This will be the fourth Broadway revival. Previous Main Stem staginings starred EG Marhsall and Bert Lahr (1956), Earle Hyman and Mantan Moreland (1957), Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin (2009) and Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen (2014). Steve Martin and Robin Williams (1988) and Paul Sparks and Michael Shannon (2023) starred in Off-Broadway productions.
Adam Driver in Marriage Story

Driver in Darling
: Oscar nominee Adam Driver (Marriage Story, Blackklansman) will star as a country-western star trying to led a normal life in a revival of Kenneth Lonergan's Hold On to Me Darling which will begin preview performances at the Lortel Theater on Sept. 24 with an Oct. 16 opening. Neil Pepe directs. He also staged the original production in 2016 at Atlantic Theater Company. Driver's previous Broadway credits include Mrs. Warren's Profession, Man and Boy, and Burn This. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

MACNEAL and Tammy Faye Casting: Tony winners Andrea Martin and Ruthie Ann Miles will join Robert Downey, Jr. in Ayad Akhtar's MACNEAL at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. Also joining the cast will be Brittany Bellizeare, Rafi Gavron, Melora Hardin, Saisha Talwar, and "a highly realistic Metahuman Digital Likeness" of Downey Jr....Tony winner Michael Cerveris will play Rev. Jerry Falwell in the Broadway transfer of Tammy Faye joining Katie Brayben and Christian Borle as televangelists Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker.
