Bury My Heart at Four Seasons Total Landscaping

The infamous press conference at Four Seasons
Total Landscaping
I should be happy at the results of the 2020 Presidential election, but Donald Trump spoils everything. He can't even lose the right way. Instead of graciously admitting defeat and turning over the reigns of power as almost all of his predecessors did, he vomits up vile conspiracy theories, incites violence and death threats against innocent poll workers, and threatens the very foundations of our republic. And, no, MAGA morons, I am not being hysterical. An astonishing 70 per cent of Republicans actually believe his crap that the election was rigged and Biden is not the legitimate winner.

It's fine to be unhappy with the results, bitch about it on Facebook or even join a massive protest as I and several thousand others did on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue in 2016. But what's really horrifying is these loons seem to buy the tin-foil-hat theories even when they are debunked. We just watched the senator from Indiana on This Week with George Stephanopoulos hem and haw, refusing to acknowledge Biden's win and asserting unless every one of these crackpot claims is fullly investigated there will be lingering doubt among half of the country. But Stephanopoulos rightfully countered that courts have been dismissing Rudy Giuliani's lame lawsuits right and left and the disputes have been debunked. The fact that Rudy has become a laughing stock with his misbegotten press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking out, sweating hair dye, and his bizarre cast of characters including Sydney Powell and the apparently drunk woman in Michigan, doesn't phase Trump's army of zombies. (Maybe that woman just swilled too much cough syrup.) It will never be enough because these Trumpists don't want to buy that they and their Fuehrer actually lost. (Note: It has just been reported Rudy has tested positive for COVID just like almost everyone who has come into contact with Trump in the last two months.)

This ties in to another program we watched the night before on Amazon. Often we will flick through the Documentary category for something interesting and this time we came across a doc on the history of fascism in Europe. It was hosted by Rick Steves, an American travel writer famous for his cuddly, warm personality. Just the person for a program on ruthless political barbarism. The parallells between Trump and the likes of Hitler, Mussolini and Franco were shocking. All love rallies where they repeat bald-face lies endlessly to the delight of the gullible chanting crowds. They all discredit the free press and now Trump is attempting to follow in his idols' footsteps by calling for jail for those who dare to disagree with him. Labelling the Georgia Secretary of State an "enemy of the people" is not far removed from the excesses of the McCarthy era.

Some pundits have predicted the Orange Menace's influence will wane once he's gone from office, but I am not that optimistic. He's probably going to announce a presidential run for 2024, maybe even with a rally at the same time as Biden's inaugural. Biden will be 81 then and he may voluntarily step down, leaving Kamala Harris to run for the top stop against Trump who just might win given the racism and sexism still prevalent in this country. Many, including Trump's niece Mary, have predicted Donald will make noises about running again because he will never put himself in a position to possibly lose again. I hope she's right, but 74 million idiots voted for him this time and he's not going anywhere.
