The 39th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards – honoring excellence in the Off-Broadway theater – will be handed out in the annual ceremony on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 7PM at NYU Skirball. Special Award recipients for 2024 have also been announced. The Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and the Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by TDF.Special Award honorees include actor-director Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Lackawanna Blues, Jitney) for Lifetime Achievement; Dominique Morriseau (Skeleton Crew, Sunset Baby) will receive the Playwrights Sidewalk Honor outside the Lucille Lortel Theater; and Ars Nova for Outstanding Body of Work.
Nominees for the Lortels will be announced on April 4 and there will be a Nominees Breakfast on April 17. The Lortels are presented for Off-Broadway work from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. . Representatives of the Off-Broadway League, Actors’ Equity
Association, Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, United Scenic Artists, the Lucille Lortel Theatre,
in addition to theatre journalists, academics and other Off-Broadway professionals, serve on the Voting Committee (though no members' names are listed in the press release or on the Lortels' website.)
The event will, as always, be open to the public, with
tickets available for purchase beginning April 4 at tickets.nyu.edu or at the NYU Skirball box office Tuesday
– Saturday 12pm–6pm. As always, the Lortel Awards is a benefit for the Entertainment Community Fund
and fans are encouraged to make donations at LortelAwards.org.

Steve Hayes of Tired Old Queen at the Movies
will host the Bistro Awards |
Bistro Awards: In other award news, the Bistro Awards for excellence in cabaret will be handed out on April 1 at the Gotham Comedy Club in a ceremony hosted by Steve Hayes of the long-running YouTube series
Tired Old Queen at the Movies (which I absolutely love.)
Comedian Robert Klein (Grace's father on Will and Grace, The Sisters Rosensweig, They're Playing Our Song) will be presented with the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award. Klein starred on a now-forgotten summer replacement CBS series in the late 1960s called Comedy Tonight which also featured Madeline Kahn, Peter Boyle and Judy Graubart. Julie Gold will be given a special award for being an Iconic Singer-Songwriter-Raconteur.
Other Bistro winners include Amber Gray, Tony Yazbeck, Karen Mack, Wendy Scherl, Jason Henderson, Margaret Curry, Roberto Araujo, Elvira Tortora, Lisa Vroman, David Dean Bottrell, Jason Henderson, Maud Hixson, and Linda Kahn. Tickets are available to the general public at BistroAwards.com.
The April 1 gala which will include performances by the honorees will be directed by Gerry Geddes for the third time, with Daryl Kojak to serve as musical director. The evening will also feature Ritt Henn on bass and Rex Benincasa on drums.
The Bistro Awards ceremony is produced by Sherry Eaker, with Mark Dundas Wood serving as associate producer and Mary Lahti as assistant producer.

at the MAC Awards |
MAC Awards: Speaking of awards for cabaret, the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) Awards will take place on April 15 at 7pm at the Peter Norton Symphony Space. At the event, MAC will present Lifetime Achievement Awards to three industry luminaries: Broadway theater veteran, cabaret artist, and educator Vivian Reed (Marie Christine, Sophisticated Ladies, Bubbling Brown Sugar); Broadway star, director, and cabaret artist Lee Roy Reams (Applause, 42nd Street); and multi-award-winning sound and lighting designer Jean-Pierre Perreaux.The MAC Awards show is produced by Julie Miller and directed by Amy Wolk. The musical director and leader of the MAC Awards Band will be Dan Pardo.
